There aren't many things that you can't buy in Elounda during the course of a week. The local shops carry a wide range of everyday foodstuffs and other necessary items for those using self catering apartments. Breakfast cereals, fresh bread and milk, fruit and veg, sun creams, cigarettes, alcohol, cheeses and dairy products, butchers' counters, electrical goods, fishing tackle, general hardware and more can be found in supermarkets and specialist shops around the village.

If you are looking for luxury then Elounda is certainly not short of jewelry shops, with many high class silver and gold creations available in the windows. New and Used Books, Leather and furs, Ceramics, Rugs, General Gifts and Souvenir Items may also be found at shops in the area.

There is a Post Office and Ethniki Bank with ATM in the centre of Elounda (see Directory+ page) and currency exchange can also be found at various hotels, supermarkets and other businesses.

Plaka now also has a small number of tourist shops. The closest bank is in Elounda.

Elounda Market Day - Friday Morning

Elounda's market is normally held on a Friday on the road outside the entrance to the church. A regular assortment of wares might include anything such as fresh fruit and veg, clothing and shoes, village cheeses and live chicks. Visitors will also see pickups or vans, variously laden with watermelons, garlic, pots and pans or garden furniture, trundling around the island and selling their wares.
