There are a number of smaller boats that make the short crossing to Spinalonga island from Plaka. These can be found down by the quayside (follow the path down to the water from Pevko / Pine Tree) and offer a relaxing alternative to the large trip boats from Schisma (Elounda centre)

For large groups it is usually possible to charter a skippered boat for the exclusive use of your own party. You will be able to negotiate directly with the owner or skipper. Alternatively for just a few people join one of the scheduled departures and return. You will be given ample time to explore the island and you can usually make special return arrangements should you wish to do so, in order to enjoy some extra time on the Spinalonga.
