Web PresenceSince its inception in May 2003 as a single page of links through to Elounda related sites, found from various search engines and a little local knowledge, the elounda77.net site has developed into a significant and frequently consulted resource on the internet for Elounda related links, content and facilities. The site's position in search engine results is obviously variable but searches for 'Elounda' on 7th April 2005 showed it as the #1 non-sponsored result at both MSN.com search (out of 140,000+ results) and ASK.com (30,000+ results) plus on the same day it came in 4th at both ALTAVISTA.com and YAHOO.com, where the 3 results above were all related to holidays at the luxury resorts - elounda.com, elounda.net and eloundabeach.gr. If deemed necessary and viable a specific Overture campaign will be implemented from mid 2005 onwards. elounda77.net has been advertised sporadically through the GOOGLE.com Adwords program, using a large number of Elounda related keywords or phrases. By April 2005 it had achieved directly linking adverts on over 100,000 direct Search Engine Page results and these were in addition to content based text ads carried via the Google AdSense for publishers network. The overall 3% clickthru rate achieved over the 22 month period put it in the top 20% of the stijlnet.com network's best performing campaign rates. Furthermore it receives indirect traffic as a result of a number of other managed Greece related Adwords campaigns. The site is listed at DMOZ.org (the Open Directory project) plus has been listed (by reciprocal arrangement) at a limited number of major Crete, Greece or travel related sites in addition to further stijlnet.com network sites. Just as much as any of these factors, though, it is by previous visitors' recommendations, that the site continues to attract new readers and users, as a flattering comment in this message thread (opens in new window) found at CONFETTI.co.uk illustrates. The internet and the site aren't static, though, and from April 2005 an expanded editorial and tech team intend not only to keep on improving and maintaining the site but also to push its scope and facilities to greater lengths (further still) as internet usage and accessibility increases throughout Europe. |
